Water is a key factor when playing this course. There are several ponds and the Black Mud Creek meanders throughout the course affecting play on six holes. Mark Lachman, the assistant pro, advises players, "while the fairways are fairly forgiving you had better stay on the fairway given." The greens are rather level but all are slightly sloped. There are two signature holes, #6, a 436-yard, par 4, requiring an accurate tee shot within a thirty-yard area. The right side is tree lined with the creek running behind them. The second shot is 230 yards over a pond to a sunken green that has the creek on one side. The other signature hole is #3, a 270-yard, par 4, requiring a 200-yard tee shot to the top of a hill with a sixty-foot bank down to the creek. The shot to the green is thirty feet down to a sunken green which is nearly surrounded by the creek.
